MD

Dave took Boards on Tuesday the 11th (HOORAY!) and had the rest of the week off, so we headed to Maryland to visit his family. It just so happened that it was FAIR WEEK in Garrett County (where their family has a cabin on the lake) so we got to enjoy all that is great about a County Fair including, giant produce, strange animals, a tractor parade, arts and crafts, delicious milkshakes, and sketchy fair rides. Owen was big enough to ride some of the kid rides by himself... for some reason this is more amazing to me than the fact that he can now say a couple dozen words. We got to spend the long weekend together, and then Dave took off for his rotation in Detroit. I stayed in Maryland with Dave's family, including his sister Holly who was on break from school at BYU. I ended up getting the flu (obnoxious coughing and loss of voice included) but we still got to do some fun stuff out there. Dave's parents live out in the middle of the woods, and it is beautiful! Owen loved going for walks and throwing rocks in the pond. We also took a hike through the Paw Paw tunnel, ate lots of treats, and got a good dose of chick flicks(including my first time viewing of Jane Eyre!) When it was time to come home, Dave's mom, his sister Holly and two of his other sister's little girls all piled into the van with Owen and I and drove us back to Sandusky (soo nice, right?) We got to spend a couple of days here and had fun going to the beach and visiting some of the little nearby towns and parks.

Garret County Fair

Award winning green beans, of course

I think at this point they were thinking "The Scrambler" was not such a good idea...

This won an award in the "3rd and 4th grade" category... Oh Garrett County, gotta love it.

In heaven driving his own go-go

Paw Paw Tunnel... it's just down the hill from Dave's parent's house
It's about a mile through to the other side and it gets DARK in there. Owen had his own flashlight and thought it was super cool.

We made it to the other side! Owen adores his Auntie Holly.

He also adores the swiffer. They took out the middle bar to make it just his size...and from that point on, it went everywhere with us (including home to Sandusky)
The rock throwing pond next to the house
Swimming in Nana's pool
Back in Ohio

Apparently the world comes to Lakeside

What great pictures Leanne! I laughed out loud when I read your comment about the kids on the "scrambler". haha! Owen looks so cute with his swiffer. Sounds like you guys had a great time, except when you got a nasty flu bug! sorry, glad you are feeling better now.
